Happy Mother’s Day! I actually forgot that it was Mother’s Day weekend until yesterday. Since my own mom passed a few years ago the day doesn’t seem as important as it once was. However for everyone who does have their mom celebrate her.
While it’s a holiday that only officially made its way onto the calendar in 1914, May is the month dedicated to the Blessed Mother Mary. With a deep spiritual connection, mother’s are selfless, compassionate & loving. The nine months leading up to their children’s arrival, mother’s prepare for the whirlwind of affection that blooms from their hearts the moment they embrace their child. The nurturing, care & love showered upon their children is something to behold & even more incredible to experience. Motherhood is awesome & awe inspiring.
To my dearly departed mother Irene. You are missed although you are always in my heart. I find solace & laughter in the memories of all our adventures & escapades. I remember fondly my departed grandmother Amelia. A Polish immigrant turned citizen who loved her family & her country. One of my favorite memories was my grandmother learning Spanish (she lived in Miami Beach) with a Polish accent.
For my daughter Lauren who shows me daily that 5 kids is just as easy at 3. While I hope your cooking skills catch up to your parenting skills, great job. Keep it up & keep on inspiring everyone around you. To my daughter in law Elizabeth who unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control, I have never had the opportunity to meet. I pray everyday you are nurturing & guiding my 2 grandchildren to be loving, compassionate & kind people.
To my Aunt Joan who has become a surrogate mom since my own mom has passed. She is a kind, sweet woman who is thoughtful of others continually. To all my other friends & family who make sacrifices each & everyday. Whether you’re a mom, grandma, aunt, godmother or friend, thank you.
Motherhood is a gift from God that too often gets overlooked & taken for granted. To all of you, you’re doing an awesome job. Keep it up. The future of the world lies in your arms & hearts. Happy Mother’s Day!
