Welcome! Let me introduce myself….my name is Rene!
I am a mom, grandma (Grand Marnier), mentor, advisor, teacher, student & friend. I am the Executive Director & Founder of the Honeysuckle Foundation for Children with Cancer http://www.honeysucklefoundation.org. Author of Alicia’s Updates, a memoir of life during pediatric cancer treatment & advocate. I have taken on many roles throughout my life. I have had the privilege to be a confidant and friend to many. These experiences have given me the opportunity to meet and partner with great people, brands, companies, and charities. I write, plan, create and guide with friends and family. Our adventures lead to many laughs and great memories. Working together has sparked new business ideas, innovative fundraisers & fun brainstorming sessions. When you’re partners with your family & friends, every gathering becomes a creative session. The contribution of even our littlest family members provides an invaluable perspective. I am committed to teach. I offer hands on experience in business, community, philanthropy & common sense to the next generation. I love learning & sharing my knowledge with those who ask.
Some days it feels as though I’ve lived many lives. Some have been tougher than others. Still, I wouldn’t trade one moment of the good, the bad, or the ugly. My experiences have given me wisdom. I have learned things beyond what I ever dreamed possible & love to learn from others as well. My journey includes many memorable moments that have made some great stories. I am a fierce advocate for the people and things that matter to me. I thrive on challenges. I am always juggling multiple projects. At this stage of my life, I find it important to share my experiences with others. Sharing them may help someone else, offer a different perspective, or just give a reason to laugh. Life can be very funny & I never miss a chance to laugh about it. As an elder, I am embracing my role as I age. My opinions are my own & I will defend my position, but respect those who disagree. I believe civility & respect are sorely missing in today’s world & work to try and change that. One article, one podcast, one project at a time.
I am most excited about the community forum on this site. Although I do not know how it will evolve, I invite you to sign up & join the conversations. It’s a bulletin board of ideas and a place for people who seek interaction & something with more substance. It offers a little less flash than social media & more reality. I hope you check it out & share it with your friends. I envision this as being our own little ‘Main Street’. This is an exercise in community building. I would like to see it succeed.
