Easter has always been a favorite time of year for me. I always enjoy the beauty of the spring & the season. Easter eggs will be colored. Baskets will be assembled and a menu planned. Easter like all holidays, are much more than these things. Holidays are a time to share traditions.
Traditions are the bedrock of families. Things that connect us. For me though, it’s the planning, baking & celebrating a Blessed event together. Setting the dining room table with china & silverware is meaningful. Dishes that have served grandparents & great grandparents are special. Favorite foods that were been prepared for years before by my mother and her mother are also all wonderful memories.
Traditions are generational & sharing a special meal with loved ones is priceless. It connects us to our past & reminds us of those no longer with us. Stories from prior years are shared. I remember many of them. Our traditional Easter dinner will form new memories for us seated at the table & while we miss those who aren’t there, new memories will be made. Stories that will be the shared with future generations. I am aware that a holiday like this day will never come again. I try to remember the last Easter with my parents seated at the table. Those times were always special.
I wish to give my grandchildren that special feeling I grew up with. While it isn’t always recognized at the time, the seeds of family connection & traditions are always being sowed. One egg, one chocolate, one memory at a time. The joy of the season is making Easter special & sharing that feeling. The food, the treats & the laughter, being together is my gift. Time spent with my family takes on even more significance the older I get. Every moment with them is an opportunity to create a cherished memory. I hope they remember these moments when they set their Easter table for their grandchildren, many years from now.
Wishing everyone a Blessed Easter & hope you make lots of wonderful memories.
